Independence Day!!! Cocktails!!!!!
Independence Day!!!
With so many beach and park closing this year and fireworks displays being canceled, you are going to have to get creative this year when it comes to celebrating Independence Day. But fear not, I have a list of July 4th cocktails for you to try!
1. 4th of July layered shot you can make ahead of time. In a shot glass fill about 1/3 with good grenadine, next use the back of a spoon to help you slowly pour some blue curacao over the grenadine, lastly do the same with Vodka or cream, or even white rum. Chill.
2. Fill a tall glass with ice, fill with 1 ounce of each: Blue Curacao, Peach Schapps, white rum, and top with club soda. Garnish with a maraschino cherry!
3. My personal favorite, Mint Julep.
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon Powdered sugar, 2 oz. Bourbon whiskey, 2 teaspoons Water, 4 Mint leaves
Preparation: In a highball glass gently muddle the mint, sugar and water. Fill the glass with cracked ice, add Bourbon and stir well until the glass is well frosted. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Serve: On the rocks; poured over ice
Standard garnish: Mint sprig
Drinkware: Highball glass
Be careful with these, they sneak up on you!
4. Punch! Punch is easy. You get a bunch of stuff, throw it in a punch bowl and people can serve themselves, which allows you to relax and enjoy the day. Here’s a three ingredient punch for you to try. In a punch bowl, pour a bottle of vodka, a 2 liter bottle of Sprite and a tub of LIME Sherbet. Remember sherbet?
5. Now, if you are not much of a mixologist, you can always get a nice, ripe watermelon, cut out a couple of plugs, fill with vodka, let sit overnight, slice and serve! Tell your friends it’s Vodka Infused Melon…sounds fancy!
6. Red, white and blue ICE CUBES. Now this is so easy even I can do this. Place blueberries, raspberries ( or cut up strawberries) in ice cube trays, fill with water, freeze. Use them in your cocktails.
Please don’t drink and drive! If you are the one entertaining guests, please make sure there is a place for that one guest (there’s always one) to crash for the night.
